Gonic motorcyclist hurts leg in freak foot-peg mishap

ROCHESTER - A Gonic motorcyclist escaped serious injury on Sunday when his leg slipped off the foot peg and made contact with the ground.

The mishap occurred in the area of Meaderboro Road near Doug's Towing around 12:15 p.m. police say Michael Rowell, 51, was riding alone on his Harley Davidson motorcycle when his foot slipped off the foot-peg and was pinched between the motorcycle and ground.

Rowell was able to maintain control of the motorcycle and pull off and park at Doug's Towing where he was evaluated by Frisbie EMS. Rowell was then taken to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries.

The investigation remains open at this time. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Officer Turgeon of the Rochester Police Department at 603-330-7128.
