Holiday lighting contest gears up this week

LEBANON - A Lebanon holiday lighting contest is under way with cash and gift cards going out to those with the best displays.

The contest is open to all residents and businesses.

Four awards will be given out, including a first- and second-place people's choice award and a second-place award to be decided by a panel of three judges.

There will also be a bonus gift basket for the home décor showing the most Lebanon pride.

To enter either call or text 207-608-7715 or 207-837-2138 no later than Saturday and list your name and address.

The organizers of the event, Deborah Dorey Wilson of Lebanon, Maine, Truth Seekers and the Lebanon Rec Department, will compile a list of those entered which can be picked up at Trains Quickstop in East Lebanon and Hometown Mobil in South Lebanon.

The public will then be able to ride around town and drop off ballots at the two locations.

Judges will make their decisions during a drive-around Dec. 19 and all winners will be announced Dec. 20 before 3 p.m.
