ROCHESTER - A Strafford man wanted on a probation violation was arrested in an attempted robbery of a Flagg Road home Friday after surveillance video at the residence helped to identify him as a suspect.

Police first learned of the incident when they got a call around 9 a.m. from the resident who said they were not at home but had learned through a cellphone message that an intruder had breached the security system at her home.

She reported that her home security cameras captured a male subject attempting to enter her residence.

Officers responded to the area immediately but did not locate the suspect.

After looking at the video it was determined the suspect was Kevin Brochu, 28.

Around 9:45 a.m. an officer spotted Brochu in the downtown area on a bicycle and stopped him, where he was taken into custody for attempted burglary and held on a 72 hour probation violation hold as he had not been checking in with his probation officer.

Brochu was taken to Strafford County Jail where he is awaiting a Monday arraignment in Strafford County Superior Court.
