ROCHESTER - J. Robert "Bob" Forcier of Rochester, N.H., died while traveling in Mentor, Ohio, at the age of 75.
Bob is survived by his wife Nicole, his daughters Suzanne Wilkins and Michelle Anderson of Rochester, his sister Loretta Berry and brother Jean Paul Forcier of Rochester, his grandchildren, Monique Wilkins of Manchester, Sarah Wilkins of Rochester, and Christian Anderson, also of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his brother, Florian Forcier and his son-in-law, Dean Anderson.
Bob was born in Rochester in 1942 to Theresa and Julian Forcier. He attended Rochester Catholic High School and graduated from Spaulding High School in Rochester. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army and earned several distinctions, including serving in the ASA in Ethiopia before being honorably discharged in 1964, having attained the rank of E5. He married Nicole in 1966 and apprenticed at Pratt & Whitney - eventually becoming a metrologist at General Electric.
Bob was an accomplished woodworker and often bestowed his expertly crafted works on friends and family. He was generous of spirit and with his time, devoting his life to spiritual works and his family. He often visited the Oratory of St. Joseph (the patron saint of families) in Montreal.
He also earned Fourth Degree status with the Knights of Columbus, and volunteered with the Big Buddy program of Rochester, the Court Diversion program, the Red Raiders Hockey League, was a softball league umpire, and worked as a commercial driver with several professional racing teams. He enjoyed many hobbies including running and competing in several marathons and triathlons as well as being a member of the Rochester Runners Club. He loved to travel with his family and was completing a trip to visit all 50 states with his wife. He had enjoyed travel to over a dozen countries but especially loved trips on his Harley Davidson.
Bob was the quintessential quiet man - accomplishing much in his life, loving and supporting his family and friends, and living the example of a Catholic life. He was a steady hand and a reliable and honorable man. He will be greatly missed.
