ROCHESTER - Jeanne Lea (Riley) Davis, 62, of Rochester died on Tuesday, February 2, 2016, after a period of failing health.
Born Nov. 25, 1953, in Huntington, Long Island N.Y., Jeanne was the daughter of the late Jeanne A. (Morgan) Ringer and Herbert F. Riley Sr. She grew up in Farmington, N.H., and attended Farmington High School, graduating in 1971. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science in Business Management at Granite State College.
Jeanne began her career at UNH in 1975 hired into the newly created Research Office. From there she moved to the Space Science Center where she became the Business Manager for the Gamma Ray Observatory/Comptel project in 1981. In 1985 the Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans and Space (EOS) was created and Jeanne became the Assistant Director of the Institute. She later returned to the Space Science Center to become the Assistant Director of Space Science/Director of Finance and Contract Administration. She continued her career until her failing health forced her to leave in Nov. of 2013. Her career spanned 38 years and she valued the relationships made with friends and colleagues over the years. She was very proud of her accomplishments during her years at UNH.
Jeanne loved music and attended many concerts enjoying front row seats at the Grand Ole Oprey in Nashville Tenn. She never gave up her Rock "n Roll but she had a soft spot for country. She loved playing strategy games like Risk, Words with Friends and Soduku. Mostly she loved spending time with her family and friends doing cookouts or dinners together.
Members of her family include her loving husband of nine years, Edward "Arnold" Davis of Rochester: her son Zachary J. Rippett and his wife Lisa of Rochester; her brother Herbert F. Riley Jr. of Gilford, N.H.; four stepchildren Jodi Mae (Rippett) Aitola of Lakeworth, Fla.; Heath Dalzell of Dover, N.H. ; Joshua Rippett of Farmington, N.H.; Julia Kate Davis of Lebanon, Tenn,; her godchild Carrie Lynn Torres of Homestead, Fla.; many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her mother Jeanne A. Ringer; her father Herbert F. Riley Sr., her brother Robert R. Riley, and her brother Kenneth C. Ringer III.
