ROCHESTER - Jessie Gurney, 83, of 15 Eastern Ave., passed on to her heavenly home Thursday, October 4, 2017, after a period of failing health. Born May 14, 1934 in Ridgeway, S.C., she was the daughter of the late JT and Cora (Peake) Bass.
Jessie lived and shared some happy moments with friends and staff at Studley Home in Rochester for the past three years. She was employed at General Electric as a machine operator before her retirement. Jessie had a passion for bowling and received many awards for her high scores. She was also very proud of her first place pumpkin and the ribbons she won for her crocheted baby outfits, Blankets, Mittens and hats at the Rochester Fair. She also enjoyed fishing with her daughter and granddaughters. She loved the companionship of her beloved dogs, Missy and Tasha.
Jessie will be sadly missed by her sons; William Plante of Montana, Bruce Plante and his wife Dawn of Brookfield, N.H., her daughters; Carolyn Brown and her husband Scott of Barrington, Elaine Plante of Strafford, Sue Hale of N.C., and Jackie Plante of Mich.; she has many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Calvin Gurney and her brothers; Otis and Ed Bass.
