SOUTH LEBANON - The cause of a fire that gutted a vacant Lebanon home in December is still unclear, but lab results that should be available later this month could shed some light, a state fire investigator said on Monday.

The early morning blaze on Dec. 28 all but destroyed the house at the corner of Carl Broggi Highway and Ryefield Road.

When crews arrived fire and smoke were billowing out of the structure, which was unoccupied and for sale.

A second alarm was sounded for additional manpower, with units from Alfred, Berwick, and Rochester and Milton, assisting at the scene.

Sgt. Joel Davis of the Fire Marshall's Office said on Monday those lab tests should be back within two weeks.
