ROCHESTER - Larry Alan Schmidt, 68, of 28 Hemlock Street, died Thursday, June 16, 2016, at his home after a brief illness. Born September 26, 1947 in Wichita Kan., he is the son of the late Colonel Earl M. Schmidt (USAF ret.) and the late Lois (Rose) Gray.
Larry, a longtime resident of Rochester, was a graduate of Carnegie-Mellon University. With a degree in electrical engineering. He worked at General Electric for 33 years. An accomplished pilot, Larry enjoyed many years of flying throughout New England and the East Coast. As an engineer, Larry had a passionate interest for all things mechanical, especially motorcycles and cars.
Larry will be dearly missed by those he touched with his kind spirit and generous nature.
Members of his family include his best friend and beloved, Susan Page, of
Rochester: his daughter, Katherine Schmidt, and her fiancé, Brad Von Haden of Newmarket; his sister Susan and Matthew Yingling and children of Phoenix, Ariz.; and Susan Page's children Ashley and Ross, both of Portsmouth, and grandson Wyatt Atkinson of Berkeley, Calif. His daughter, Jennifer, preceded him in death.
