Lebanon fire where man's body found declared arson

LEBANON, Maine - Wednesday's fire at a Shapleigh Road home where a body was found in the rubble was the result of arson, the state fire marshal's office has determined.

The unidentified victim, a 58-year-old man, was found in a second floor apartment at 72A Shapleigh Road soon after the fire was called in around 11:45 a.m.

Officials said when firefighters arrived the building was fully involved.

Mutual aid responders included fire departments from North Berwick, Berwick, South Berwick, Alfred Acton in Maine; and Somersworth, Milton and Rochester in New Hampshire.
