DOVER - A South Lebanon man is facing life behind bars after his indictment on fentanyl and meth trafficking charges in connection with a November arrest in Rochester.

Corey Theriault, 30, with a last known address of River Road, South Lebanon, Maine, is charged with three counts in the Nov. 3 arrest, including trafficking in the two controlled drugs as well as falsifying physical evidence in that he allegedly "concealed and/or altered fentanyl with the purpose to impair its verity ... in that he did place a quantity of fentanyl into a toilet covered by copious amounts of toilet paper, causing it to dissolve," according to court records.

The most serious charge of trafficking fentanyl carries enhanced penalties of up to life as Theriault had been previously convicted of a similar drug offense. Meanwhile, the meth trafficking charge carries a maximum 15 years in prison, while falsifying physical evidence carries up to seven years.

Theriault also faces fines in excess of $700,000 if convicted.

The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down on Jan. 17 and released on Wednesday.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, rather that enough evidence has been gathered to warrant a trial.
