DOVER - A Lebanon man could be sentenced up to seven years in state prison following his indictment on fentanyl possession charges.
The charge against Stephen E. Ricker, 25, of 672 River Road, stems from an incident on Nov. 18 in which it is alleged he "possessed or had under his control" a drug later determined to be fentanyl.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid 30 times more powerful than heroin and is believed to be one of the main contributors to an epidemic of deadly drug overdoses in New Hampshire and Maine this year.
The Class B felony also carries a maximum fine of $25,000.
The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down July 14 and released on Wednesday.
An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been gathered to warrant a trial.
