EAST ROCHESTER - A Lebanon woman was injured on Saturday after police say another vehicle ran a stop sign and collided with her car on Highland Street in East Rochester.

The accident occurred around 6:10 p.m. in the area of 16 Highland St. when police say a 2014 Dodge Challenger driven by Pieter De-Wet, 28, of 7 Limestone Lane in Rochester was traveling south on Grove Street, failed to stop for a stop sign and crossed Highland Street in front of a 2009 Hyundai Sonata headed west and driven by Maryann Ripley, 54, of 10 Tobacco Road in Lebanon.

When the two vehicles collided De-Wet's Dodge careened into a nearby yard striking a fence and a parked vehicle.

The Dodge Charger took heavy driver side damage in Saturday's crash.

Ripley's Hyundai went off the roadway onto the sidewalk striking the granite curbing.

Ripley was transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

Officers spoke with witnesses in the area during the accident who stated De-Wet failed to stop for the stop sign and had been driving at a high rate of speed. De-Wet was summonsed for reckless driving and failing to stop at a stop sign. He is scheduled to appear in court on his charges next month.
