ROCHESTER - A fund-raiser to benefit the Ryan Canney Memorial Scholarship fund will be held Saturday at the Rochester American Legion on Eastern Avenue.
Ryan Canney, who died in a motorcycle accident on Sept. 28, 2013, was a frequent volunteer at the Riverside Rest Home and spent much of his life helping other people.
The $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to two outstanding students who expect to pursue a career of public service. Two scholarships were handed out last June, and the benefit will go toward handing out two more to students graduating this June. Tickets cost $10.
This year's benefit begins Saturday at 6 p.m., and will include a live auction, raffles, a 50-50 drawing and much more.
