ROCHESTER - Leon W. Meehan, 76, of Rochester, formerly of Zephyrhills, Fla., died Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at Rochester Manor. He was born March 7, 1941 in South Berwick, Maine the son of Harry and Margaret (Ross) Meehan.
Leon was a Coast Guard veteran who took great pride in having served his country for 26 years. Following the Coast Guard he worked at Prime Tanning, Kimball's Garage, and helped manage and maintain mobile home parks in Florida.
He was a member of the Dover Moose, the Rochester American Legion Post #7, the Shriners Bektash Temple and the Knights of Columbus. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason with the military lodge in Massachusetts.
Members of his family include his step-children, Cynthia (John) Breen, Paula Ciotti, John (Peg) Carver, Mark (Chrissy) Carver, Fred Hussey, and Carolyn Cullen; his sister Kathy (Howard) Strong and brother Barney (Cathy) Meehan. He was predeceased by his wife, Nellie C. Meehan, whom, since she deceased in 2010, he never failed to visit at the cemetery unless it was raining, snowing, or a medical issue prevailed. He was also predeceased by his parents and his siblings, Marcia Scott, his twin sister Leona Walker, Noreen Blouin, Hope Clapper, Bruce Meehan, and several nieces and nephews.
