PORTSMOUTH - Southeast New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity wa recently chosen as one of this year's recipients of Volunteer NH's Spirit of NH Awards. Hundreds of people across the state will come together on Nov. 13 at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord to celebrate all of the outstanding volunteer work that has been done in 2019.

The Spirit of NH Awards is an annual recognition event where nominated individuals, groups, nonprofits, educational institutions, and businesses from across New Hampshire are honored either for their exemplary volunteerism or their promotion of volunteer service.

SENH Habitat for Humanity will be presented with the 2019 "Volunteer Champion Award" at the event. In addition to the organization receiving this award, one of Habitat's volunteers will be presented with the 2019 "Volunteer Service Award."

In 2018, SENH Habitat for Humanity attended the Spirit of NH Awards and spoke in support of Team Rubicon who received the Volunteer NH Non-Profit Spirit Award. "I was so excited for Team Rubicon to be recognized in 2018" said Marcie Bergan, executive director at SENH Habitat for Humanity.

Being chosen for this year's award means so much to the organization and they are honored to be added to list of great non-profits who have come before them. Bergan stated, "We are our Volunteers. Nothing could happen here without all of those who choose Habitat for their time and the vehicle for giving back."

Gretchen Stallings, Executive Director of Volunteer NH, commented, "The SENH Habitat for Humanity volunteers serve to support New Hampshire residents seeking safe and affordable housing for themselves and their families. The program helps homeowners build the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to support themselves into the future. VNH commends these volunteers for giving of their time and sharing their unique skills with others in effort to better the quality of life for their community."

The mission of SENH Habitat for Humanity is to eliminate poverty housing in Southeast New Hampshire. To volunteer, donate or learn more about SENH Habitat for Humanity, please visit www.senhhabitat.org or call (603) 433-9555.
