Maine man cited in crash that sends three to hospital

ROCHESTER - A Rochester man was among three injured late Thursday night in a two-vehicle crash in front of the Stop N Go Deli on Gonic Road and Columbus Avenue.

When first responders arrived shortly after 11:10 p.m. they found two heavily damaged vehicles up over the sidewalk and in the tree area across from the deli.

Initial investigation indicated that a 1992 Mercedes four door E-Class was exiting the deli when it collided with a 1998 GMC Sierra pickup truck traveling north on Route 125.

The Mercedes sustained heavy passenger side damage in Thursday night's crash..

The Mercedes, driven by Brett Ladd, 61, of Brownfield, Maine, sustained heavy damage to the driver's side of the vehicle, while the GMC, driven by Zachary Holland, 25, of Crown Point Road in Rochester sustained heavy front end damage.

Both Ladd and Holland, along with the passenger in Holland's vehicle, were transported to Frisbie Memorial Hospital for what were described as nonlife-threatening injuries.

The area of Columbus Ave and Gonic Road was reduced to one lane of travel while emergency personnel worked the scene.

Ladd was issued a summons for failure to yield.
