Man gets at least 4 years for brutal 2015 home invasion

DOVER - A Rochester man will spend at least four years in state prison for his part in a brutal home invasion in 2015.

Giovanni Monroe, 36, of 15 Royal Crest Mobile Home Park, was sentenced Friday in a plea deal for the home invasion and robbery that occurred on Academy Street on Nov. 17, 2015.

Monroe, 35, of 15 Royal Crest MHP; Robbie Jablonski, of 18 King St.; Ryan Tiberio, of 9 Western Ave Apt. 4 Dover, and Cedric Ross, of 157 Rochester Hills Road, Apt. 7, were all arrested in the case, in which Monroe brandished a gun and held box cutters to a victim's throat in an attempt to steal drugs they thought were in the Academy Street apartment. His maximum prison term in the plea is eight years.
