ROCHESTER - Marcel J. Houde, 85, of Rochester and formerly a longtime resident of Somersworth, died on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Frisbie Memorial Hospital in Rochester.
He was born on January 31, 1930, in Dover, New Hampshire to Oscar and Alice (Binette) Houde.
Marcel retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a pipe fitter. Over the years, he worked at Davidson Rubber in Dover and Carignan Motors in Rochester. After retiring from the Navy Yard, he worked part-time for New Style Homes in Rochester.
Marcel was a communicant of St. Martin's Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish in Somersworth and a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and Past Grand Knight. He enjoyed his many trips to the family homestead in Saint-Fortunat, Quebec, Canada.
Marcel's wife, Madeleine (Carignan) Houde, and a brother, Paul Houde, predeceased him.
Marcel's family would like to thank the staff at the Studley Home and the nursing staff at Frisbie Memorial Hospital for all the care and support given to Marcel and his family.
Survivors include, six children, Maurice Houde and his wife, Bona of Chesapeake, Va.; Mona Rowe and her husband, Allan of Rochester; Muriel Stickney and her husband, John of North Petersburg, N.Y.; Michael Houde and his wife, Tamara of Rochester; Marguerite Zrimsek and her husband, David of Somersworth; and Marcia Berry of New Durham; a sister, Rolande LaFrance of Dover; 16 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
