ROCHESTER - Margery F. Googins, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 16, 2017 at the Gafney Home in Rochester. Margery was born September 6, 1927 to the late William and Marion (Thayer) Young. Margery was one of eight children, all born and raised in Rockland, Maine. As a child she spent many summers with family on the island of Vinyl Haven, Maine.
Margery was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She enjoyed traveling, camping, sewing, playing cards, but first and foremost spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her never ending creativity and sense of humor.
Margery was employed with Rowell & Watson Oil Company, Dover, as the Office Manager for over 36 years.
Margery is predeceased by her loving husband, John J. Googins of 60 years; brother Fredrick Young and his wife Eleanor; brother Linwood Young; brother Raymond Young; sister Molly Young; sister Pricilla Ulner; and sister Marion Doherty.
She is survived by her brother Robert Young, his wife Violet; sister-in-law Gloria Young; and sister-in-law Karen Young; daughter Carol Vaughan and her husband John; grandchildren, Melanie Walsh and her husband William, James Vaughn and his wife Mellisa; great-grandchildren, Zachary, Colby, Hannah and Owen; great-great-grandson, William Johnson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Gafney Home for all their love and care over the past year.
