ROCHESTER - Marlene Theresa Martel, 64, of Rochester, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 unexpectedly at her home. Marlene had lived most of her life in Dover, and attended Dover High School. She was currently employed at Riverside Rest Home, and had worked in nursing for approximately 40 years.
Marlene was born on September 25, 1953 in Dover; the daughter of Robert J. Martel and his wife Yvonne.
Marlene was a loving and devoted mother. She was generous to those in need and always helped when she could, frequently contributing to her favorite charities. She had a deep love for New Hampshire, and enjoyed hiking in her beloved White Mountains. She had been an avid backpacker and liked camping, beaches, and the outdoors. She also had a tremendous lifelong love for animals; from her Tennessee Walker horse, Alaska, whom she owned in her twenties, to her beautiful Maine Coon cat, Patches. She regularly gave to the National Wildlife Federation.
Marlene is survived by her daughter Alyssa Lynch of Dover; her father Robert Martel and wife Yvonne also of Dover; her sister Sharon Latture of Rollinsford, and also three stepsisters and four half brothers and sisters; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
