Medical Examiner mulling autopsy to help determine cause in Lebanon fatal

LEBANON - The state Medical Examiner's Office is currently evaluating whether the body of a Waterboro woman killed in a Lebanon crash on Tuesday will be autopsied to help identify whether a medical condition or some other factor may have contributed in her death.

A State Police press release on Wednesday said that officials were seeking to determine if Michelle Miller, 47, was suffering a medical issue causing her to strike a tree in the area of 406 Depot Road around 8 p.m.

Miller, the lone occupant of the van she was driving, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Maine State Police Trooper Adam Schmidt said on Thursday speed was a factor, noting that the speed limit in that area of Depot Road is 25 mph.

He also said that, as in all fatal motor vehicle accidents, a sample of Miller's blood would be sent for testing. He said results could take several weeks.

The probe into the cause of the crash is ongoing, Schmidt said.
