MILTON - Lebanon Fire and EMS Chief Dan Meehan has received Milton Fire and Rescue Chief Nick Marique's draft agreement of a mutual aid pact between the two towns.

"Chief Meehan has the mutual aid proposal from Milton and is reviewing it,' Lebanon Fire and EMS public affairs officer Eric Neubert said in a Wednesday email to The Lebanon Voice.

Meehan is expected to have completed his assessment on the pact sometime next week, according to Neubert.

The two towns' lack of a working mutual aid pact has been the subject of an ongoing series in The Lebanon Voice.

A section of West Lebanon, known as District 6, is far closer to the Milton ambulance than Lebanon's, leaving many residents in this area of Lebanon close to the Milton line uncomfortable with the lack of such a pact.

It should be noted that a mutual aid fire agreement has been in place for several years, but a Rescue mutual aid pact has not.

Both Meehan and Marique work as full-time Rochester firefighters at the Gonic firehouse.
