ROCHESTER - Atlantic Broadband has purchased MetroCast Cablevision, which carries cable TV and Internet to homes in and around Rochester as well as Sanford and Lebanon, Maine.
The $1.4 billion deal will have no immediate effect on local services.
Atlantic Broadband, which is based in Quincy, Mass., said in a statement that the company will evaluate the needs of MetroCast's systems and customer demands before implementing any changes.
Other areas across the country that had been served by MetroCast include Maryland, Pennsylvania and Virginia.
Atlantic Broadband previously purchased the Connecticut arm of MetroCast in 2015.
