WEST LEBANON - A Milton man has been arrested in northern New Hampshire after police there say he pointed a loaded gun at a woman outside a hotel while drunk on Wednesday.

Richard A. Stewart, 65, is charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and criminal threatening with a firearm for the incident that took place outside the Baymont Hotel on Airport Road.

According to police reports, they were called to the hotel around 7 p.m. Wednesday when a woman reported that Stewart had threatened her with a gun. The 53-year-old victim was outside the hotel when the armed Stewart approached her, police said.

Stewart is said to have asked the woman where his wife was while walking toward her with the gun pointed at her head. The woman said Stewart looked drunk during the incident and at one point fell down while holding a pistol, police said.

The woman eventually got away from Stewart and went inside the hotel to call police.

Police found Stewart inside the hotel with a loaded .40 caliber Glock pistol. He was taken into custody without incident, according to police.

Stewart was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to be arraigned in the Grafton County Superior Court later this month.
