DOVER - A Milton man indicted on more than a dozen Durham burglary and theft charges will serve no jail time if he keeps his nose clean the next three years.
Frederick Apt, 26, of 48 White Mountain Hwy., pleaded guilty on Friday in Strafford County Superior Court to Class A felony counts of burglary and theft by unauthorized taking for breaking into a 15 Mills Road apartment and stealing items from the nearby Freedom Café located at 10 Mills Road on Oct. 26 of last year.
Apt had been accused of burglarizing several rooms at a University of New Hampshire residence hall and a separate Mills Road residence on or about Oct. 25 and 26.
The two charges Apt pleaded guilty to were both Class A felonies punishable by up to 15 years in prison apiece, but as part of the plea deal he was sentenced to just two concurrent 12-month sentences in Strafford County Jail, all suspended for three years.
Apt will also have to undergo counseling as prescribed by corrections personnel and must pay back a small restitution.
In all 11 Class A felony counts were nol prossed, including nine burglary charges, one for possession of burglary tools and one for theft by unauthorized taking.
