DOVER - A Milton man has been indicted in a felony domestic violence assault case for allegedly strangling his girlfriend in January.

Nicolas Wilson, 24, of 335 Governors Road, was formally charged last month by a Strafford County grand jury with second degree assault-domestic violence (strangulation) said to have occurred on New Year's Day in Milton.

According to court documents, Wilson "knowingly engaged in the strangulation of (the victim), an intimate partner ... when (he) blocked (the victim's) nose or mouth causing (the victim) to experience impeded breathing."

The charge is listed as a Class B felony punishable by up to seven years in state prison.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that there is enough evidence to move forward to trial.
