LEBANON, Maine - Milton Olson, 70, of Lebanon, died on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018 at his home following a short illness. Milt was born in Roswell, N.M. on Feb. 3, 1948, a son of Elmer and Louise ( Jenson ) Olson and made his home with his family in several cities as his dad served in the military.
Early in life, they settled in Eliot where he attended local schools and graduated with the last class of Eliot High School in 1966. Following his service to his country in the Army during the Vietnam Era, he began a 30-career at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He began as an inside machinist then as technology changed in the shop he transitioned into work with computers. He retired in 2003.
Milton married his loving wife Lura (Leavitt) Olson and together they made a home in Eliot until 1990 when they moved permanently to their camp on Northeast Pond. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and on winter weekends traveled to Millinocket on snowmobile. On Friday nights, he and his wife could be found at camp happily hosting "Club Night" for close friends and family.
He is survived by his wife Lura of Lebanon, mother Louise and sisters Cindy Olson of Florida and Sue Arnold of Texas as well as nieces and nephews Kibbie, Emily, Jillian, Mallory, Lauren, Jon, Joel, Julie, Jennifer, Tianna and Tommy.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
