ROCHESTER - A Milton woman who went to the Rochester Police station to retrieve a backpack she'd lost the day before was taken into custody on a fugitive from justice charge on Monday.

Rhiannon M. Cooper-Boisvert, 20, of 100 Northeast Pond Road, had left the backpack behind at a North Main Street address on Sunday as police arrived in response to a resident who called to say she was trespassing.

"She left the backpack behind, and we couldn't find her so we logged it in our evidence locker for safekeeping," Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas said today.

When Cooper-Boisvert arrived to pick it up around 7:55 p.m., police arrested her on the fugitive from justice charge.

The original charge out of Maine was for an alleged assault.
