Milton woman gets at least 6 years in Rochester man's fentanyl OD death

DOVER - A Milton woman will spend at least six years in jail for her part in the drug overdose death of a Rochester man last October.

Amber Nicholson, 34, pleaded guilty earlier this week to dispensing a controlled drug death resulting, in connection with the death of Brandon M. Laurion, 30.

The plea deal worked out with prosecutors puts Nicholson in state prison for 12 to 24 years with six years suspended for 24 years of good behavior.

Co-defendant Robert Brochu, 33, of Berwick, Maine, has pleaded not guilty in Laurion's death.

Police found Laurion unresponsive after answering a 911 call to Reagan Driver around 7:15 a.m. on Oct. 31. Laurion was declared dead at the scene.

While responders weren't called till the morning of Oct. 31, a police affidavit states that Laurion's girlfriend, Sarah Quint, 29, of Dover, called an acquaintance Oct. 30 around 8:55 p.m. to say it appeared that Laurion had overdosed, but that she feared calling 911 because she had arrest warrants out against her.

Later she told detectives that during the evening she thought Laurion had overdosed because he was unresponsive, but added she didn't call 911 because she could see his chest was still moving.

Quint, who stands charged with falsifying evidence and conspiracy to commit a controlled drug act, will be back in court facing the charges in September.
