MILTON - Milton Fire and Rescue responded to a two-alarm blaze on Charles Street on Monday night.

The fire at 79 Charles St. was reported around 9:15 on New England Fire Alerts.

Mike Lajoie, who lives on Charles Street a few doors down from the fire scene, said they heard sirens and pretty soon there were firetrucks and other apparatus all over the street.

He said he saw crews from Milton, Wakefield and Acton, Maine, at the scene fighting a fire that was reportedly fully involved by the time firefighters had arrived.

Today much of the two and a half story wood frame residence was boarded up. It appeared to be a total loss.

There was no information about possible injuries or the fire's cause as personnel authorized to release information were not immediately available at Milton Fire and Rescue.
