MILTON MILLS - As part of Milton's Winter Carnival on Saturday, Feb. 17, the public libraries of Milton and Milton Mills will be presenting "Anne Jennison - Native American Storytelling to Warm You During the Heart of the Winter Storytelling Season.". This 50-minute performance will be held at the Emma Ramsey Center/Milton Town Hall, 30 Charles Street, Milton, NH at 1:30 pm. After the storytelling, the audience can participate in constructing corn husk dolls and Indian corn necklaces. Jennison is a New Hampshire-based storyteller of European and Abenaki heritage, who specializes in the stories and traditions of the Northeast Woodlands. Her storytelling is interwoven with song, drumming, and humor. Jennison holds a master's in both storytelling and history and has 30 years of storytelling performances throughout New England. Remember the Friends of the Milton Free Public Library's "Little Free Library (https://littlefreelibrary.org/about/) " has its winter home on the lower level of The Emma Ramsey Center in Milton. Thank you to Karen Brown and The Milton Recreation Dept. for bringing more reading opportunities to our community. The Milton Free Public Library Annual Fun Fan Fiction Contest is now under way! All Milton High School students are invited to change an existing piece of literature (books or stories, please) by adding a character, adding a scene, or changing the ending to enhance the work. Entries will be judged on writing, creativity in the changes, and staying in the "voice" of the original author. Three winners will be selected by the Friends of the Milton Free Public Library. First place prize is $100; second is $75; and third is $50. (Betsy Baker is the head librarian at MFPL.)
