SACO, Maine - A tenant who lives on the first floor of the house where a Rochester, N.H., man was shot to death often wears a holstered pistol on his hip while mowing the lawn, a neighbor told a Maine newspaper over the weekend.

The Portland Press Herald also said the neighbor described the tenant as a friendly man who enjoyed chatting with him about guns.

Michael Burns, 53, was shot on the front porch of a duplex at 26 Nye St. around 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.

An autopsy was scheduled Saturday at the State Medical Examiner's Office in Augusta.

Detectives said the man who shot Burns called police, and there were two other persons inside the house at the time.

Detectives said they are now attempting to determine the circumstances of the shooting.

The man who shot burns has not been identified, and no charges have been filed.

The investigation continues, safety officials said.
