CONCORD - Gov. Chris Sununu touted the state's booming economy on Friday after news came out that New Hampshire has the lowest unemployment rate in the nation at 2.4 percent.

"Here in New Hampshire we've made it a priority to develop a strong, thriving economy," Sununu said. "We've cut taxes, slashed regulations, and have fostered the development of our workforce. It's easier than ever to find a high-quality job right here in New Hampshire, while enjoying a standard of living that only the Granite State can offer. Our investments have paid off and New Hampshire is once again the northeast's leading jobs engine."

According to statistic released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Real gross domestic product increased in 49 states and the District of Columbia in the third quarter of 2018. The percent change in real GDP in the third quarter ranged from 5.8 percent in Washington to 0.0 percent in West Virginia (table 1).

Locally, New Hampshire's preliminary seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for January 2019 was 2.4 percent, unchanged from the December 2018 rate which decreased by 0.1 percentage point after revision. The January 2018 seasonally adjusted rate was 2.7 percent.
