Deputy Darren Goforth

A funeral will be held today in Houston, Texas, for Deputy Darren Goforth, who was shot execution style while pumping gas last week.

The funeral begins at noon EDT.

Conservative radio talk show host Glenn Beck is calling for the nation to pray for Deputy Goforth's family and for all those who protect and serve our nation, including Maine State Police, Milton Police and Rochester Police who protect us here in the northern Seacoast.

Beck said his team will be praying at Watermark Church in Dallas, Texas.

"I encourage you to pray together at the churches in your community. Now is the time. We must unite in prayer for our nation's first responders," Beck said on Thursday.

Following is one of the prayers. We hope all our readers will consider praying along at noon.

A prayer for "Those Who Protect and Serve"

Dear Heavenly Father, We come before you with humbled hearts. We pray Your protection over our all law enforcement as they faithfully serve our communities. We lift up to You the family of Deputy Darren Goforth and all the families of our first responders and our military who have lost loved ones. Comfort them and provide them with Your peace that surpasses understanding in the midst of unimaginable grief. God we ask for Your healing over our communities. Let us come together and unite in peace and prayer. In Your name we pray, Amen
