A flash flood watch is in effect for Strafford County in New Hampshire and York County in Maine through 8 a.m. on Thursday, with heavy rain expected at times during the overnight tonight.

Very heavy rainfalls are expected with two to four inches of rain possible by early Thursday morning. Accuweather forecasters also predict urban and small stream flooding as well.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding and residents should stay alert to changing conditions and official warnings and bulletins.

This afternoon has seen a brief respite from the morning and noontime rains that swept through the area, but it is expected to pick up again around 4 p.m. and rain at varying strengths till around 7 a.m. on Thursday.

Temperatures during this afternoon and through the overnight will remain in the 60s with little or no wind.

After a rainy start, Thursday will stay mostly cloudy with Friday seeing brightening skies and temps in the low 70s.
