LEBANON - The state Fire Marshal's Office has ruled last month's fire on Jim Grant Road as accidental in nature.

The fire was contained to the kitchen area of the home but left the house temporarily uninhabitable, according to Lebanon Fire personnel at the scene.

Lebanon firefighters got the call around 12:15 a.m. on Feb. 18 for a fire at 3 Jim Grant Road and arrived to find a large two and a half story home with attached barn with smoke showing.

After flames were located in the kitchen area of the house firefighters launched an aggressive interior attack and were able to knock it down, according to a press release from Lebanon Fire and EMS.

All the occupants of the home plus a family pet escaped the blaze, but one man suffered minor injuries jumping out a second-story window.

Sgt. Joel Davis of the Fire Marshal's Office said today that combustible material inadvertently left too close to the woodstove caused the fire.

Meanwhile a Dec. 28 blaze the destroyed a home on Ryefield Road in South Lebanon is still being investigated. Davis said it was not unusual for an investigation like this to take this long and gave no timetable for its conclusion.
