Operator of vessel charged with boating while intoxicated

ROCHESTER - A Massachusetts man waterskiing at Baxter Lake on Sunday was Medflighted to a Maine hospital after he was seriously injured when struck by a propeller of a boat being operated by his cousin who was charged with boating while intoxicated.

New Hampshire State Police and Marine Patrol first got the call around 4:30 p.m.

The injured man, Brian McComiskey, 38, of Woburn, was brought aboard the boat that struck him by his cousin, John Paul McComiskey, also of Woburn, and transported to the Grandview Campground where both men were staying.
Occupants of the boat were met at the campground by the Rochester Fire/Rescue where Brian McComiskey's injuries were treated and prepped for transport via Medflight to Maine Medical Center.
Officers at the scene arrested John Paul McComiskey for suspected felony Boating While Intoxicated as it is believed that he operated a boat under the influence that led to a serious bodily injury accident. He was released on a combination of cash and personal recognizance bail, however no arraignment was available.

Brian McComiskey was admitted to Maine Medical Center where he remains. McComiskey's boat was removed from the scene by the State Police-Marine Patrol.
Marine Patrol was assisted at the scene by Rochester Police & Rochester Fire/Rescue.
