Pedestrian injured in downtown accident Thursday night

ROCHESTER - A Rochester man was injured on Thursday when he was struck by a vehicle while crossing the roadway at the intersection of Portland and South Main streets.

Police say the accident occurred around 9:25 a.m. p.m. when a 2006 Chevy Equinox, driven by Abi Mills, 28, of Dover, was driving southbound on South Main Street during a green light when Justin White, 32, entered the roadway in front of her vehicle.

White was transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation at this time.

With warmer weather upon us the Rochester Police Department took the opportunity to remind pedestrians, bicyclists and motorists to remain aware of each other's presence and be mindful of traffic signals, crosswalks and rules of the road that ensure everyone's safety while traveling.
