ROCHESTER - Rochester Police made an arrest on Saturday in connection with a November theft at the Washington Street Shell.

Valmore K. Langelier, 31, a transient, was charged with felony theft by unauthorized taking.

The theft, which was first reported as a robbery, occurred around 1:55 a.m. on Nov 5.

Upon arrival police learned that a lone male entered the store and demanded money, then fled on foot after receiving an undisclosed amount.

Rochester Police Officer Keith MacKenzie responded with K9 Gunner, who tracked the suspect to the Washington and Brock streets intersection where the track went cold.

Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas said today that in order to charge the crime of robbery certain elements have to be met.

"Through this investigation, those elements could not be met, which is why Mr. Langelier was charged with theft," Thomas noted in a press release.

Langelier turned himself into police just after 5 p.m. He was released on personal recognizance with an arraignment set for later this month.
