DOVER - A Somersworth man appearing in court on theft charges was arrested Monday by Dover Police in a separate theft case that occurred last month in downtown Dover.

Edward Mercier, 42, of 93 Indigo Hill Road, was charged with felony level theft in the Feb. 19 incident that occurred at Granite State Shuttle Services at 760 Central Ave.

During an investigation into the theft police learned someone had attempted to use a stolen credit card at an automated teller machine in Somersworth.

The officer was subsequently able to identify Mercier, who was then an employee at Granite State Shuttle Services, from surveillance video. Because Mercier has two or more previous convictions for theft, the charge in this case is a felony.

After obtaining a warrant for Mercier, officers were able to arrest him Monday at the county courthouse.
