ROCHESTER - Rochester Police are on the hunt for a person or group of persons who set fires throughout Rochester on Thursday night.

Calls for someone setting of fireworks or other incendiary devices flooded police dispatch between 10 p.m. and midnight, forcing Rochester Police and Fire to respond to several areas.

It was reported people in what was described as a darker colored Jeep were driving around the city setting off what were described as both fireworks and "small bombs," several of which caused fires on both city and private property.

Among the areas where fires resulted were the area of Chestnut Hill and Little Falls Bridge roads, several in the area of Hussey and Dewey streets, near the Holy Rosary Church on North Main Street, Gonic Road in the area of Rochester Country Club and Flagg Road.

It is then believed the vehicle cut through a residential property on Blackwater Road to access Route 16 as it left the area.

It should be noted that brush fire season is upon us and windy conditions make it even more dangerous.

Rochester Police Capt. Todd Pinkham said today that Rochester Fire had been actively engaged in putting out many of last night's fires.

He said charges associated with starting the fires could reach felony levels.

Both Dover and New Hampshire State Police assisted, however the vehicle and people of interest were not located.

The Rochester Police are asking anyone who may have information about this crime that could assist with the investigation or any other information, to call the Rochester Police Department at 603-330-7128 case #19-1191-OF. Tipsters can also provide information and remain anonymous by calling the Rochester Crime Line at 603-335-6500 or Text to: CRIMES (274637) Body of Text: TEXT4CASH + your tip.
