Five weeks after a Rochester man was fatally shot on the porch of a Saco, Maine, duplex, Maine State Police continue to disclose no further information than was released in their first press release the day after his death.

"There are no new developments in the case," State Police spokesman Steve McCausland said today.

Michael Burns, 54, a well-respected and beloved Boy Scout troop leader, was killed on the front porch of the Saco duplex early the morning of Sept. 30 by a single gunshot wound to the head.

The initial press release said that police had identified the man who shot Burns and that there were two other men in the house at the time.

Asked if any of the men knew Burns, McCausland stated today, "I can't tell you that."

Police so far have released no circumstances surrounding the shooting, including any possible motive.

Burns, the father of two young men currently serving in the military, worked as a self-employed computer technician.

Detectives said the man who shot Burns was the one who called police.

No arrests have been made and no suspects or persons of interest have been released.

McCausland last week said all of the men in the house that night with Burns have been interviewed.
