DOVER - State Police are looking to interview the drivers of two cars in the vicinity of a serious motorcycle accident Thursday afternoon on the Spaulding Turnpike in Dover.

The crash occurred around 1:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes near Exit 9 when a 2000 BMW Motorcycle, operated by Donald Pelletier, 59, of Dover appears to have lost control as it entered a sweeping right hand curve in the area of the exit, police say.

The motorcycle hit the guardrail on the left side of the roadway and went down on its side, with the operator ejected from motorcycle.

It was reported that the BMW Motorcycle was traveling southbound with a black Cadillac operated by a male driver and a silver Mercedes operated by a female with blonde hair.

State Police are in the process of identifying these vehicles and would like to speak to the operators.

Pelletier sustained life threatening injuries and was transport by ambulance to Wentworth Douglas Hospital in Dover then later transferred to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston Massachusetts via Medflight.

At the request of the initial responding units, the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, (C.A.R.) Unit responded to the scene. At this time the collision remains under investigation. It does not appear that impairment was a factor in the collision, however all aspects are still under investigation, including speed and/or distraction.

As a result of the collision Route 16 southbound in the area of Exit 9 was closed for approximately three hours while the investigation took place. The Collision Analysis and Reconstruction, (C.A.R.) Unit was assisted on scene by members of New Hampshire State Police Troop A, the Dover Police Department and the Dover Fire and Rescue Department.

Any witnesses are encouraged to contact Trooper Daniel Quartulli at 603-223-8993 or preferably at daniel.quartulli@dos.nh.gov.
