Pop culture icon, budding blues duo chase winter blues at upcoming Performance & Arts Center events

Blues-inspired rock duo Jocelyn and Chris Arndt

ROCHESTER - The Rochester Performance & Arts Center will host two upcoming special events in its recital hall, including a night of electronic dance music and art with Gabe Smith on Jan. 27 and up and coming soulful duo Jocelyn & Chris Arndt on Feb. 3.

Self-styled pop icon Smith incorporates art and music with experimental styles creating intriguing, compelling tracks. His devotion to his art led to this musical hybrid. Smith developed his vinyl skills and played beats with hip hop artist Bobby Bishop, Hope records artist Mingo and Scott Free out of Atlanta. He has played at Rock the Block and Reach the Beach in Boston's North Shore area along with many summer festivals throughout New England.

Particulars: Art show (7pm) and Electronic Dance Music Festival (8pm) Tickets $5 at the door.

Then on Feb. 3 the original blues-inspired rock duo Jocelyn and Chris Arndt take the stage, known for their devastatingly powerful vocals and retro-rock guitar, with lyrics that run the gamut from vulnerable to all-out venomous.

The brother and sister duo are creating a new generation of authentic album rock. They've recorded five releases with incredible guest players like G. Love and Gov't Mule's Danny Louis and developed an authentic retro-rock style that gives the sounds they grew up on a millennial twist. Since the release of their debut full-length "Edges," their radio footprint has grown dramatically.

Particulars: Show starts at 8pm (doors open at 7pm) Tickets at the door, online, or call the box office (603) 335-1992, M/W/F from 10-5pm.
