WEST LEBANON, Maine - Princess Marie was born in Virginia and transferred through humane societies to Cocheco Valley Humane Society in Dover in early 2004.
We brought her home to Prospect Haven in West Lebanon, Maine, in the spring.
She was a great dog never biting a person once in her lifetime while keeping a keen eye on the property and proving a wrothy watchdog. She only growled at two people that we can remember, and they kept their distance.
Despite her friendliness, she struck fear in many who were wary of her toothy grin, mistaking it for aggressiveness.
Deliverymen without biscuits were always looked upon skeptically, and most came to know it was best to have some in their pocket at the ready.
Princess most enjoyed having her ears scratched, her belly rubbed and any scrap of food from the table, even vegetables.
She brought us joy for many years and we will miss her terribly.
