Public invited to free skate, pizza day at Rochester ice arena

ROCHESTER - "Rochester Public Safety Skate Day," formerly known as "Skate with a Cop," will be held on Saturday from 1-3 p.m. at the Rochester Ice Arena.

The public ice skating is free and skate rentals are free on a first come first serve basis. This year we have included the Rochester Fire Department and so everyone will get to ice skate with uniformed members of both the Rochester Police and Fire Departments.

There is a suggested donation of one canned food item per person to benefit Spaulding High School's food pantry. This event would not be possible without the help from the Rochester Recreation Department, Rochester Fire Department, and the Rochester Police Department.

After 3 p.m. members of both the police and fire departments are teaming up to play in a hockey game against the Cannons (a team of Veterans from the Skate for the 22 Foundation).

Free pizza will be available. The game should last till around 4:30 p.m.
