ROCHESTER - Raymond "Ray" Edward Ellis, 88, of Rochester, N.H., died on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at home. Born in Laconia, N.H., to Harold R. Ellis and Martha M. "June" Ellis, he spent most of his final days in Strafford County, N.H. Raymond is preceded by his wife and high school sweetheart Phyllis M. (Colbroth) Ellis, both of whom graduated from Spaulding High School.
Raymond served two years in the U.S. Navy and also served as a member of the NH National Guard. Raymond later became an officer within the Rochester Police Department. Upon leaving the police force, Ray joined Prudential Insurance Company where he became a successful service representative. Ray enjoyed spending time with his family, caring for his birds and watching the NE Patriots and Boston Red Sox.
Raymond leaves behind his six children; Peter Ellis of Clayton, N.C., Diana Toscano of Hampton, N.H., Steven Ellis of Manchester, N.H., Barbara Theodore of Alamagordo, N.M., Chery Tufanio of South Riding, Va., and Timothy Ellis of Dover, N.H. Raymond is also survived by his younger brother and friend Norman D. Ellis of Rochester, N.H.; as well his many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
