ROCHESTER - Raymond F. Poirier, 80, of Rochester and Zephyrhills, Fla. died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017 at Florida Hospital Zephyrhills with his family by his side.
He was born in Cambridge, Mass.; the son of Omer and Loretta (Marsolais) Poirier.
Raymond worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement. He spent his winters in Florida for the past 14 years. He was a kind and generous man always helping others. He was on the board of directors at his retirement community, block captain for his street welcoming new home owners, assisted in the kitchen for the community holiday dinners and annual Christmas candle lighting. He and his a dear friend Joan Brookman, enjoyed cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, Panama Canal and many other adventures.
Members of his family include, two daughters, Cheryl Moore and her husband, Denis of Rollinsford, N.H.; and Kathy Grant of Michigan; three grandchildren, Jennifer Grant, Alisha Wood, and Melissa Bolobanic and her husband, Spencer; and one great grandson, Wyatt Bolobanic; one brother, George and his wife Dot Poirier, and three sisters, Adele Vinyl, Therese Griffin and Jim, and Pauline Allen; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Marilyn Poirier, in 2002.
