GONIC - Reginald 'Reggie' Cossette, 88, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, April 16, 2015.

Reggie was born in Rochester on August 9, 1926, the son of Ludger J. and Aurore Laura (Duchesneau) Cossette and was a lifelong resident of Gonic.

He was predeceased by his brother, Paul J. Cossette of Brookfield and Jacqueline Blasidell of Springvale, Maine.

Reggie graduated from Spaulding High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Navy, serving as a Seabee during World War II and participated in the largest amphibious assault during the Battle of Okinawa, Japan. After serving his country, he worked at the Gonic Brickyard and became a mail carrier for the postal service. He was also an employee of Simplex Wire & Cable, Co. from 1957 to 1986, and the Rochester Department of Public Works from 1986 until his retirement 1988. After his retirement, he and his wife, Lise, enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren at York Beach, working on his antique cars, listening to big band and swing music and watching classic movies. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. A smile has left this earth.

Surviving members of his family include: His beloved wife of 59 years, Lise Jacques Cossette; two daughters, Laura Cossette Hardy of Manteo, North Carolina and Cynthia Cossette Bowen of Barrington, and their spouses, Joseph Hardy and Robert Bowen. He also leaves two grandchildren, Lily Catherine Bowen and Petty Officer First Class Reginald R. Kelly, USN, and one great-granddaughter, Vivienne Aurora, several nieces and nephews.
