ROCHESTER - Police responded to two accidents within five minutes Tuesday during the region's third snowstorm of the month.

The first occurred at 8:27 a.m. when police and fire responded to the area of 223 Milton Road for a car into a utility pole. The investigation revealed an unknown vehicle was traveling north on Milton Road when it struck the pole, snapping the pole in half.

The vehicle, thought to be a 2002 to 2006 Chevy Silverado or Suburban, then fled in an unknown direction.

Milton Road was shut down to one lane while the pole was replaced.

Just four minutes later, around 8:31, responders were on the scene of a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Gonic and Flagg roads.

The investigation revealed that Demetrius Paris, 35, of Rochester, was driving a Chevrolet 1500 pickup south on Gonic Road when he collided with a Ford Fusion driven by Allison Files, 16, of Rochester.

Files was entering the intersection from Flagg Road at the time of the crash.

One lane of Milton Road was closed while the utility pole was replaced..

Paris was transported by EMS to Frisbie Memorial Hospital with what were described as nonlife threatening injuries. He was later charged with failure to obey traffic control devices as well as operating after suspension and released on personal recognizance bail.

While emergency personnel were on scene the southbound lane of Gonic Road was closed for a short period of time. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Both accidents remain under investigation at this time. Anyone with information about this collision is asked to contact the Rochester Police Department at 603-330-7128.
